The Crete Area Historical Society (CAHS) has exciting news to share. The Crete Area Historical Society and the Crete Public Library are co-sponsoring a book signing event with Dr. Larry McClellan for his newly released book, Onward to Chicago: Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad in Northeastern Illinois published by Southern Illinois University Press. The event will be held at 6PM on Wednesday December 6, 2023 at the Crete Public Library located at 1177 Main St., Crete, IL. Dr. McClellan will also present some stories related to the Underground Railroad with emphasis on Will County connections. Copies of the new book will be available for purchase by cash, Zelle or Venmo. Sorry but debit and credit cards are not accepted.
Crete Public Library has reserved it’s biggest room for this event which can hold a good number of persons, however, those planning to attend need to register.
